How far in advance should I apply for a Vietnam visa?
You can apply for a visa for Vietnam whenever you wish, and the visa will be valid from the date you choose on the application form. However, we advise that you wait until a closer date (3 months in advance), such as May 2024, to apply for your visas.
How strict is Vietnam with visas?
You must have an appropriate visa before travelling to Vietnam. You can apply online for an eVisa for tourism or business purposes. If approved, the eVisa may allow you to stay up to 90 days and is valid for single or multiple entries. Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice.
What are the visa rules for Vietnam?
Foreigners are allowed to enter when they meet the following conditions: 1. Possession of a valid passport or travel document and visa. Foreigners entering under unilateral visa exemption must have passports valid for at least 6 months and must have been outside Viet Nam for at least 30 days since their last departure.
What is the new visa policy for Vietnam?
Electronic visa (e-Visa)
Vietnam introduced a pilot electronic visa system on 1 February 2017. Starting from 15 August 2023, an e-Visa is issued to citizens of all countries and territories and is issued for single or multiple entry up to 90 days. The e-Visa costs 25 (single) or 50 (multiple) USD.
Is a Vietnam e-Visa better than a visa on arrival?
Although the e-Visa is the preferred choice, the Visa on Arrival may still be helpful in a few cases: You enter by air and have very little time before travel and need a guaranteed approval letter immediately. You are familiar with Vietnam visa on arrival.
How long does it take for a Vietnam visa to be approved?
It normally takes 3 working days (excluding the submission day) for an e-visa to get processed. However, the actual visa processing time may take longer - often 5-7 working days or more - especially during high traffic season, or if your application requires additional supporting documents.
